Breathe In, Breathe Out

the story of a marriage

When I figured out that my marriage wasn’t working, I was surprised, confused and undecided about what I should do about it.

Any promises I made when I married, I kept to the best of my abilities but life is about transition and change. We changed but the changes didn’t happen together – we grew in different ways and away from each other.

Through the divorce, I learned that there are very few issues are really worth going toe-to-toe over. Almost no issues are worth the fight. I learned the truth in the saying, “You can choose to be right or you can choose to be happy.” I learned to forgive my ex and to forgive myself.

Prioritize and don’t sweat the things you have to let go of. Sometimes you realize you didn’t need those things and it’s a relief to stop carrying them around.

When I followed my soul – that part of me that dreams, creates, inspires, finds delight in my day – I found a peace that truly passes understanding. I learned to take time to nurture myself and to find gratitude in the sun, the leaves, the small insect on my arm, the feel of the breeze, the nuzzle of my favorite pet – not to let these opportunities for gratitude and, subsequent joy, pass me by.

Breathe In
Words & Music by Wendy Hunt

Verse 1:
Full of heart
Full of hope
Smile at me
Everything is full of …

… Promises
Made in June
Throw white flow’rs
Fairytales is what I breathe

Chorus 1:
Breathe in,
Breath out,
Just live this life,
It’s all I need

Verse 2:
Little lives
Claim our time
Freely given
The days flow into years and …

… Memories
Make me laugh
Make me long for
One more chance to hold them tight

Chorus 2:
Breathe in,
Breathe out
Don’t stop to think
There’s just no time

Verse 3:
Love is strong
Cling to you
I feel safe and all is …

… Good for now
Pleasant dreams
Keep me anchored
But who is there to make them real?

Chorus 3:
Breathe in,
Breathe out
Just do what’s needed
Everything will work out right

Verse 4:
It’s breaking down
What went wrong
Fix what’s broken
No one really seems to …

… Hear me now
Speak to me
What’s the point of
Talking now. I disappear.

Chorus 4:
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Just doing time,
I’m sure it’s gonna work out fine

Verse 5:
Letting go
Don’t understand
What went wrong
We took no time to really …

… See ourselves
Look around
The path was lost
Can’t find our way to go back home.

Chorus 5:
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Just moving on
Gotta make things right

Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Just live this life
Everything will work out right.
